My name is Stephen Borwick, from Dublin, Ireland!
From as far back as I can remember we have always had pets, mainly dogs.
It all started for me with Butch, our little Jack Russell. We then had Kuba, our West Highland White Terrier who was one of the most clever dogs we had, my uncle had rescued him from a pound but he didn’t get on well with his own Westie (Aaron), so we took him and it was the best decision. We used to ask Kuba “where’s your collar” or “where’s your lead” and he would go searching until he found it and brought it to you. He would then try throwing the collar in the air and catching it on his head :).
We then had Chunk who ran out the open door one day and never came back, Chunk was a couple of months old. I believe someone found him and gave him a great life. Then came Cassie (White German Shepherd), I remember the day I took her home.
It was 2008, the year I had finished secondary school. We had no dog at the time. It was around October time and a friend mentioned her cousin’s 2 dogs had puppies and asked if I wanted one. Without telling my mam and dad I went up to meet the puppies.
I was like a kid at Christmas with all these beautiful puppies walking around, and I loved seeing the mother and father with them watching them play and correcting them when they stepped out of line.
We took Cassie from the house which is about 10 minutes walk from my house, we got about 20 yards and Cassie sat herself down and decided she wouldn’t be walking any further 😀 I picked her up and carried her the rest of the way.
From that day on Cassie became the 8th member of the Borwick family. Cassie was not only an influence on me and my family but on the community within Clarehall. The families of Clarehall didn’t know me but they all knew Cassie
It is a testament to her nature and the positive effect she had on people.
Since losing Cassie in June 2022 when she was almost 14, I have had a burning desire (voice in my head) telling me that this is my purpose and I need to do more. I have always held myself back with fear of failing,But the only true failure is never trying.. So here I am!
That’s why I’m setting out on a mission to build an animal sanctuary here in Ireland, a safe haven for all animals in need—dogs, cats, and more—where they can be housed, cared for, and rehabilitated. My dream is to extend this care not only to animals in Ireland but also to those from around the world who need help.
With your support, I believe we can make this dream a reality and give countless animals the second chance they deserve.
We need your help!
We’re in the early stages of creating a sanctuary where animals in need can find love, care, and a second chance at life. But we can’t do it without you! Your donation, big or small, will make a huge difference in bringing our vision to life.
Together, we can build a place where every tail wags with joy. Join us in making a difference—one paw at a time.
Our first step is to gather the resources we need to make our sanctuary a reality. We’re focused on raising funds to cover everything from the initial planning stages to the day we open our doors. Every donation brings us one step closer to creating a safe haven for animals in need.
A sanctuary isn’t just a building—it’s a place filled with love, care, and hope. Our next goal is to find the perfect piece of land where we can bring this vision to life. We’re searching for a location that offers plenty of space for animals to roam, heal, and thrive.
With the land secured, our next focus is on constructing a state-of-the-art facility where animals can receive the best care possible. From cozy kennels to open spaces for play and rehabilitation, we’re committed to building a sanctuary that feels like home.
Once the sanctuary is up and running, our mission will be to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. Whether it’s a lost dog, an abandoned cat, or a critter in crisis, we’re here to offer them the love, care, and second chance they deserve.
